Drowning in the Tempo

There is dramatic music playing,
Building up the tension and suspense.
Everything is rushing around so fast,
So fast and quick and fast.

Cursing himself, he tries keep pace.
He is lost in the game, too slow to keep up.
He is incapable of moving. The music quickens,
The tempo increases, louder, faster, louder.

Now the crescendo, onto the interlude.
Happy for the break, the boy rests.
Conductor conducts and the players play.
The tempo is slower now, easier.

Now the interlude is over, we’re back to the start,
The music is fast and the beat is quick,
The boy doing his best, he tries counts each tick,
And tock and one two three four, the music is fast.
