Gone are the Seasons

When oft in bed at night I lay,
I do think of all you had to say.
How content, you made me sing.
Why oh why did you leave me Spring?

Then I feel your comforting heat
Like a fire, melting an ice sheet.
I realise we’re not getting any younger.
Oh where are you now, Summer?

On you I spent the most time,
So relieved you’re finally mine.
But like the others, you got a call,
Up and off you went, oh Fall.

So please, I’m asking you to be the one who stays
With me forever, please, Winter.
